Plot Summary

The episode starts with Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61 and Battalion 25 responding to a house fire.

The call takes a turn for the worse when firefighter Andrew Darden is killed in the line of duty when a vent was unsuccessfully established.

A month later, the firehouse are still recuperating from the death. This caused tension between Kelly Severide and Matthew Casey as they were both close friends with Darden and Severide blamed Casey for his death.

The lieutenants are forced to settle their rift when Boden speaks to them to and asks them to set a better example.

After the near-death of Christopher Herrmann, everyone at the firehouse begins to realise that being upset and angry all the time is not good for morale and safety.

Gabriela Dawson runs into trouble with the Paramedic Chiefs when she preforms a risky procedure in the field that she was not authorised to do.

A new candidate firefighter Peter Mills reports to Firehouse 51 for his first shift on Truck 81.
